$ 23.75

Availability: 97 in stock
  • Condition: I would grade these two banknotes as crisp uncirculated with vivid colors and nice embossing. The banknotes have all the details very well preserved. The notes have no graffiti, splits, pinholes, or tears. They have no folds or creases and the corners are intact, nicely squared with no rounding. Both notes have intact edges with no observable roughness, with the 25 centavos note having some ruggedness to a portion of the top edge due to bad trimming during the production. Both notes are clean with no stains. Both notes have small black spots on the back surrounding the top of the treasury seal, which are artifact of the printing process. In addition, The JR-XXX stamp on the back of the 50 centavos is a bit light because it was not properly stamped. Finally, the 25 centavos note has some black spots in the top right corner of the front due to the stacking of the notes and the fact that the wet black seal on the back of the note on top of it in the stack bleeding on it. Details
    Description:
    A lot of two beautiful crisp uncirculated banknotes from the State of Sonora in Mexico. These are the January 1, 1915 series J regular issue twenty five centavos and the series J regular issue fifty centavos. This lot is comprised of two crisp uncirculated notes with the same basic design. The 25 centavos note has the serial number 34392 and the 50 centavos note has the serial number 71382. The serial numbers are shown twice in red on the front of the notes. Each banknote depicts the portraits of Francisco Madero (President of the United Mexican States) at left and J. M. Pino Suarez (his Vice President) at right both in black and white over a black background with white on black writing on the front. The back is green with the image of an eagle with a snake in its beak (the arms of the Mexican Republic) with the words Republica Mexicana and the words Goberno del Estado Libre Y Soberno De Sonora surrounding the eagle in its center. The back of both notes also has a black scalloped treasury stamp in the left upper corner. Additionally, the 25 centavos note is stamped JR-XX in black to the right of center while the 50 centavos note is stamped JR-XXX also to the right of center both on the back. The JR-XXX on the back of the 50 centavos is a bit light presumably because it was not properly stamped. The notes have four printed signatures displayed on the bottom of the front but have no water marks that we could find. The paper of the notes is in great condition and retain its crispiness, shows strong embossing and displays fresh and vivid colors. Please carefully review the scans provided as they are part and parcel of our description.
